Animated Stories Engage Communities in Health

Ken HubbellActionCraft

In 2020, we added animated videos to our visual solutions for clients with big stories to tell and big challenges to solve around engaging people in new collective action. We have recently completed projects for health and education foundations and behavioral health coalitions. Our clients are bundling these videos with board strategy and sense-making retreats, sharing them in social media platforms, and coupling them with stakeholder conversations designed to build adaptive playbooks for these uncertain times.

Changing the Conversation about Behavioral Health
in the Vail region of Colorado

During this troubling time of pandemics and business closings in the recession, Vail Health and Eagle Valley Behavioral Health coalition developed additional mental health supports for their region. Their leaders collaborated with us at ActionCraft to reach out to an increasingly stressed and worried community through a series of animated stories in both Spanish and English.

Recurring waves of Covid-19 infection have delayed the first EVBH summer campaign, but the videos provided an engaging opening for strategic planning between the Eagle Valley Behavioral Health partners and the region’s philanthropic community.

These colorful videos provide empathetic content and a spirit of determination and belonging that helps communities navigate complex health crises. It is important to make the story clear through the illustrations and to offer it in the language of the community.

We couldn’t be happier with how the end products turned out…

Creating a Philanthropic Strategy to Increase Health in Hamilton, Canada

The leadership at Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation (HHSF) knows that proactively shaping their future is what informs their success, so they are constantly exploring adaptive paths forward for their organization. To set the stage for their short-term strategy building discussions, they wanted an interesting and engaging way to look back at their journey since 2010, so they hired ActionCraft to do just that, through a compelling and inspiring, narrated animation.
