150 years ago today, on top of the hill just steps away from this building, Whitewater Normal School opened its doors. From that moment, generations of students, faculty, staff and community members have made this university their home.

This is truly a monumental milestone. Marking 150 years is an outstanding accomplishment and speaks both to our legacy of excellence, and our ever-growing impact in our region and in Wisconsin.Tonight, we celebrate our rich history and focus on an even brighter future.

Here’s to the countless people over the years who have supported our noble mission, championed us, and made this university the exceptional place it is today. And here’s to our future — to the next 150 years. Let us continue striving for excellence in all we do. May we inspire, engage and transform generations to come.
