We have been busy capturing and widely sharing the key themes at large conferences for the Achieving the Dream student success movement in 2017 in San Francisco and this year in Nashville. We’re seeing how visual workbooks and tools truly help participants stay inspired after the event, share the stories and big ideas, and foster quicker strategic action that is relevant to their priorities. Here are the big ideas from this year’s DREAM 2018 Conference, the 14th annual learning event of over 2,000 community college practitioners, policy makers, funders, and partners.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Welcome, Recap of December Meetings and Meet Newcomers

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Digging into the current workforce and opportunity pipeline by the three cycles and cogs: Foundational Education (Experience, Exposure, Network Support), Postsecondary Credential (Educational Experience, Work Experience, Support Network), and Workplace Entry and Advancement (Professional Development, Work Support, Professional Network).

A set of questions around each that surface what we are doing in LR in each cycle and what we need to know to be effective in each. These are at least three small groups, one for each cycle. Subgroups share their initial thoughts and findings with the whole group. There is a whole group reflection on how these three are disconnected and can be better connected so no person falls through the cracks.

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Putting expectations and hopes for 2018 on the calendar. Signing up for the working groups. Final reflections on the day and discussion about next steps and the Monday meeting.
